Ellen Ross personally traveled to the majority of the trails she lists in this book. Dividing the state geographically into five sections, she lists 90 trails covering over 4000 miles. For each trail she describes the quality and difficulty, how to reach them, when they are open to horses, what fees may be charged, and contact information, often including a color photograph of the area. There is a wealth of information here, and she has done a wonderful service to the horse community, both in collecting the information and in cultivating the contacts. It remains to us to respect the wishes of the various individuals and organizations making these trails available to horsepeople, and to be good stewards of their land!
