Welcome to Knight Equestrian Books

We are all about horses! We have Books and DVDs for every equine interest, fiction and non-fiction, for children and adults. Knight Equestrian Books has been serving the needs of horse enthusiasts since 1987, at our bookstore in Maine, on the road at shows and, since 1996, on the Internet.

We have collected books and DVDs from around the world to help you care for and train horses, teach riders, and master new riding skills – from dressage to driving, from eventing to endurance riding, and from trail riding to team penning. Or maybe you like stories about horses – we have those, too.

Browse by subject, use the search engine, or contact us at (207) 882-5494 or ‘help at knightbooks.com’ and we’ll assist you to find what you are looking for. And do check our new Blog for the latest happenings and arrivals at the bookstore.

Come visit us in our store near Boothbay Harbor in picturesque Edgecomb, Maine. We are open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6 pm EST. We keep our own horses close by and they love company. Mention the word "Carrot!" and they'll come running!

EXTRA! Ground Work & Play We've added a new article in Staff Recommendations. We gathered several recent titles that deal with ground work, but often with an element of play, and reviewed them side by side, so you have a better idea of where they might fit with your interests and goals. Let us know if this helps – it's fun to do a compare-and-contrast review, as it does help me choose the right book for the purpose. Hopefully it does for you as well.

USPC Manual of Horsemanship, D Level by Susan E Harris & Pony Club - Paperback (2012)

Nearly twenty years after the first edition, Pony Club has revised the D Manual, Basics for Beginners. It has a cleaner, easy-to-read font and page layout, fresh photos of active Pony Clubbers, and some changes to the content that invite any beginner, not just youngsters already in Pony Club, to join in learning. Instead of introducing the Basic Riding on the Flat chapter as the required D1 Level skills, the chapter introduction summarizes what those skills are–no mention of Levels.
